The Beauregard Parish School Board held a special meeting Thursday night to interview Tim Cooley for the Acting Assistant Superintendent position.
After the interview, which was held in a private Executive Session, the doors were opened to the public to hear Superintendent Rita Mann's recommendation and to act upon it.
Mann commended Cooley's "excellent work ethic" and said that she felt he was "very qualified to do the job." She proposed that the Board name Cooley to the Assistant Superintendent position, and Cooley was voted in unanimously.
The position was opened when Ron Hebert announced his retirement.
Cooley was a principal at East Beauregard High School for six years before moving to the
Beauregard Parish School Board to be their Instructional Supervisor. He has been with the School Board for three years.
Cooley will officially take his seat as assistant on August 10, 2009.
The School Board will now begin accepting applications for the position of Acting Instructional Supervisor.
