Dennis Swanberg, known as “America’s Minister of Encouragement” will be returning to DeRidder on July 26. First Baptist Church will host the free event at 6:30 p.m.
Swanberg, commonly referred to as “the Swan,” is a famous Christian, evangelical comedian and author. For over 30 years he has spoken at churches nationwide and has also been featured on James Dobson’s radio ministry “Focus on the Family.”
He is the host of the weekly variety show “The Swan” and “The Dennis Swanberg Show”; both shows air nationwide on the TBN channel.
Swanberg says “I try to bring people laughter, but my point is that joy is a choice. Happiness is dependent on what happens, but joy is a choice. It takes an act of your will.”
With funny anecdotes, snappy punch-lines, and quick one-liners, Swanberg delivers clean comedy, and simultaneously, inspiration to his audiences.
Doyle Cooper, pastor of First Baptist Church, called Swanberg “the Jerry Clowers of our day.”
Swanberg visited DeRidder four years ago, and the church is very excited about his return.
The event is free, however a love offering will be taken that evening to benefit God’s Food Box.
Residents can check out Swanberg’s books, dvds, and clips of his shows at www.dennisswanberg.com.
