Beauregard Parish School Board was called together Monday night for a special meeting at which time the Superintendent, Rita Mann, M.Ed. gave her recommendations for the position of Acting Director of Title I and Acting Principal at Singer High School.

Mann’s recommendation for Acting Director of Title I was Annette Johnson and her recommendation for Acting Principal at Singer High was Penny Irwin.

Next to be brought before the school board was the revision to policies dealing with discipline, suspension, and expulsion.

Discussion of discipline and suspension was postponed, waiting further investigation.

Meanwhile File:JDE was unanimously approved with the revision that states:
“A student who is expelled and receives educational services at an alternative school site shall be assigned work by a certified teacher and shall receive credit for school work if it is completed satisfactory and timely as determined by the teacher. Such work shall be aligned with the curriculum used at the school from which the student was expelled.”

The next meeting of the Beauregard Parish School Board is scheduled for Sept. 8, 2009.
