On Friday Judge Kerry Anderson sentenced Chrishon Archield to life plus 30 years on the counts of aggravated rape and aggravated burglary.
Archield was convicted of both crimes on June 18, 2009 by jury trial.
In Louisiana a conviction of aggravated rape carries a mandatory life sentence with no possibility of parole or suspension.
The 30 years added to his life sentence is the maximum time allowed for aggravated burglary.
Assistant District Attorney Richie Blankenship said that the D.A.’s office was “very pleased” with the actions taken by Anderson, citing the case as one of “very egregious circumstances.”
Archield’s defense attorney, Mitchel Evans, said this case was a very difficult one to try.
On May 30, 2008 Archield broke into the home of the victim, beat her, and then raped her.
Archield was convicted of aggravated battery and a separate count of molestation in 1995.
Archield will be moved to Elayn Hunt Correctional Center for the next six months.
From there he will be transported to Angola State Penitentiary to serve the remainder of his sentence.
