DeRidder, La. -

The City Beautification Fundraising Committee met at city hall recently to exchange ideas about gathering support for making the community attractive to outside consumers and business, as well as visitors.

As well as decorative streetlight banners, landscaping, lighted flag poles, and historical markers, projects currently under discussion by committee members Kerri Broussard, assistant to the mayor; Matt Young; Glenda Dean, fundraising committee chairperson; Bonita Scarbrough; Callie Garland, Ginger self; Anna Burks; Jean Spikes; Julie Roberts; Kimaron Moore; and Marietta Jenkins, include new Christmas lights for the historic area, new “Welcome to DeRidder” signs, and a new weather-resistant, heavy-duty downtown clock.

Donations and commitments of time and energy from area clubs, organizations, businesses and churches are needed to make the projects a success. For more information contact DeRidder City Hall at 462-8900.
