Local officials are gearing up for the 3rd annual community-wide Fourth of July Celebration fireworks display.
The public is invited to gather at the fair grounds for the celebration of the 233rd birthday of America.
Admission is free and Sugartown watermelon will be served by the DeRidder Police Department.
There will be fun jumps and other activities for the children.
Grace Church in conjunction with the City of DeRidder is sponsoring the event.
The fireworks display will take place at the open air pavilion near the south side entrance to the fair grounds.
The music of the Beauregard Courtesy Band and other local musicians will start at 7:45 p.m. and then the display will commence after the music.
Tony Dobson, a firefighter with the City of DeRidder, estimates the display will last 30 minutes.
Police Chief John Gott also wanted to remind residents that igniting fireworks inside city limits is a violation of ordinances that are in effect.
The State Fire Marshal's office also has instituted a Burn Ban throughout the state.
Gott said, "Attending the fireworks display at the fairgrounds is a fun and safe alternative that everyone can enjoy."
