Funeral services for Linda Gae Longoria, 60, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at First Baptist Church of DeRidder, with the Rev. Wayne Squyres and the Rev. Bill Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, La.

Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 25, from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, of DeRidder, and will continue Monday, Jan. 26 at First Baptist Church of DeRidder, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Longoria passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by husband, Lyndon Longoria, of DeRidder; son, William R. Smith, II and wife, Susan, of Louisville, Ky.; daughter, Kelly Benoit and husband, Chris, of DeRidder; mother, Norma Slaydon, of DeRidder; brother, Les Slaydon, of Baton Rouge, La.; eight grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Joshua Smith, David Smith, Joanna Smith, Caleb Smith, and Sophia Smith, all of Louisville, Ky., and Kelsea Benoit and Hunter Benoit, of DeRidder; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Slaydon; and twin brother, Bryan Slaydon.
Mrs. Longoria was born and raised in DeRidder, La. She retired from Boise as an Engineer Project Coordinator. In 1966, she graduated from DeRidder High School and went on to attend Northwestern State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Merryville.
