Fred Wisby Jr., 76, entered eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 in his residence in DeRidder, La. He was born in Cravens, La. and lived most of his life in the DeRidder area. He retired, after 58 years, from the oilfield as a Drilling Consultant for Eagle Consulting Services. He enjoyed working, gardening, and tinkering with various outdoor projects. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife Reba F. Wisby; sons Frederick Allan Wisby and wife April; Laddie DeWayne Smith and wife Cara, all of DeRidder; Daughter Linda Ford and husband Jack of DeRidder, Brenda Maricle of DeRidder, Brandie Ardoin of Topsy, La.; Brothers Willard Wisby of Gulfport, Miss., J.C. Wisby of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters Bernice Burgess of Ragley, La., and Nona Cole of Cravens, La.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Wisby Sr. and Mattie Perkins Wisby; sons Frederick Allan Wisby and Terry Lynn Wisby; and brothers Thomas Wisby and Ronald Wisby.
Visitation will be at Labby Memorial Chapel in DeRidder on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 from 9 a.m. until the service begins. The service will begin at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Gary Bankston and Rev. Jeff Phillips. Interment will be in Wisby Cemetery in Cravens.
