Two local sisters, Klancy and Darby Shope, won several first and second place awards at the recent state high school finals rodeo in Gonzales.

In an effort to help junior high and school athletes with their skills, the Beauregard United Soccer Association (BUSA) started playing summer games in June and will go through the middle of July.

Five unanswered runs in the final two innings for Rosepine Thursday night in summer baseball at Leesville were enough break a tie and secure victory. Rosepine defeated Leesville 12-7.

The Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce will host its 9th annual golf tournament at the Beauregard Country Club in DeRidder. Tee time for the event is schedued for 8 a.m. Saturday, July 11. Registration is $65 per person and will be from 7 to 7:45 a.m. according to chamber tournament director, Gary Blackmon.

Rosepine’s lack of timely hitting and trouble finding the strike zone proved costly on the road at Kinder Tuesday in summer baseball. Kinder beat Rosepine 6-2.

DeRidder Dodgers (8-6) head coach Greg Hanchey said those words after his team lost back-to-back games by one run each on the road Monday and Tuesday in summer baseball.
