The DeRidder Dragons placed seven players on the 5-4A All-District first team for the 2009 football season. DeRidder’s DeShazor Everett was also the defensive MVP.
Quarterback Samuel Peterson made the first team offense at the ATH spot. Stephen Richmond also made the first team offense at running back.
On defense, the Dragons’ Daniel Lyles and Cole Kennedy were named as first team defensive linemen, Harrison Lewis and Everett made the first team as linebackers and Rashad Robinson earned a spot on the first team as a defensive back.
Everett also made defensive first team as a kick returner.
The offensive MVP of the district was Orlan Lockhart of Sam Houston. The defensive MVP was Everett and the coach of the year was Mike Johns of St. Louis.
Offensive lineman Danie Sweet of DeRidder made the second team.
DeRidder defensive lineman Darren McGlothlin and DeRidder defensive backs Peterson and Sean Freeman all made the second team.
Honorable mentions from DeRidder were wide receivers Alvais Coronel and Chris Jones, offensive lineman James Gore, running back Antonio Palmer, kicker Noah Coronel, defensive lineman Tyler Slover and defensive back Jace Morien.
