South Beau ended the summer baseball season with its third consecutive victory. South Beau (4-3) won at Kinder in a game called after five innings due to rain by a score of 10-8.

The game was played in the sixth inning, but everything that happened in the inning did not count. Only the first five innings counted.

“It’s (three game winning streak) great,” South Beau head coach Jeremy Walker said. “It’s a great way and a great step for what we’re looking to achieve next season.

“It was a great summer season. To end it with a winning record and to win three in a row gets us ready for what really matters and that’s next season.”

Walker was pleased with his team’s performance at the plate.

“We came out similar to the game the other night,” Walker said. “We executed — hit the ball. We jumped on them early. Both teams were without a lot of key players.”

Ricky Ivey and Pryce Fontenot each had a couple of extra base hits for South Beau. South Beau also had five first inning runs.

“We were able to play with the lead through the whole game,” Walker said.

“The game again was won at the plate. We executed on the base paths.”

Walker said the defense for South Beau got the job done.

“Pitching wise we did OK,” Walker said.

Hunter Fontenot was the starting pitcher and went the first three innings.

“He came out and did what he was supposed to do and throw strikes,” Walker said.
Cade Addison pitched the other two innings for South Beau.

“He did his job,” Walker said. “He gave up some hits, but we continued to throw strikes and not give up bases on free walks.”
